We are supporting a high-growth deep-tech venture with a patented, market-validated solution operating at the intersection of energy systems, grid optimisation and advanced computing. The business is now seeking a CTO / Technical Co-Founder to lead technical strategy, product development and team build from early-stage through scale-up.

This is a rare opportunity to join at founding level, shape the technology roadmap end-to-end, and play a key role in the commercial and technical success of a globally focused platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and deliver the core platform from patent to production

  • Lead development of MVPs and first customer deployments

  • Build, lead and mentor the founding engineering team

  • Define technical standards, processes and engineering culture

  • Drive technical strategy through seed funding and growth phases

  • Act as senior technical representative with investors, partners and clients

Technical Background (Essential)

  • Strong expertise in power systems, grid optimisation or energy modelling

  • Experience with grid simulation tools (e.g. pandapower, MATPOWER, PowerWorld, PSS/E, DIgSILENT or similar)

  • Understanding of European energy markets (day-ahead, intraday, balancing, ancillary services)

  • Strong software engineering background (Python, numerical libraries, APIs)

  • Experience designing real-time, low-latency systems

  • Cloud deployment experience (AWS, GCP or Azure)

  • Knowledge of TSO/DSO grid operations and flexibility management

Background

  • PhD in Power Systems, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or similar
    OR

  • MSc with 5+ years’ experience in R&D or product engineering within grid, energy or advanced technology environments

Startup experience and optimisation, storage or edge-system exposure are advantageous.
